Prince Charles has been telling people for ages how good it is when you talk to your plants. But everybody just dismissed him as a loony old brat who has had way too much time on his hands and no worries about where his next meal is coming from. Well, it turns out that the good old Prince of Wales wasn’t all wrong after all. A bunch of keen plant-loving developers have followed the blue-blooded plant-whisperer’s lead and have come up with this rather unfriendly looking Botanicalls Twitter that claims to be able to communicate the plants’ feelings towards its owner via online Twitter updates sent to your cellphone. Don’t get me wrong, the thing isn’t a big pile of plant manure, contrary to the outlandish claims it makes. The setup includes a moisture sensor that is placed into soil which is connected to an Arduino microcontroller board, which in turn is connected to the net and sends you a message when the plant needs to be watered. For €120, the Botanicalls plant-to-human communication device is a great bargain for amateur gardeners or people who keep forgetting they have a pet plant to take care of at home.

Botanicalls kit helps you “communicate” with your plants!

After all a communication tool for our poor old silent companions has been invented. This of course looks a good way to let us know when to feed plants. A pet dog would make your life hell if not fed on time, but all these days our pet plants did suffer in silence.
