A possible solution

BMW has come u with what is a solution to these problems that are associated with driving at night. This solution comes as what they have called BMW Dynamic Light Spot under their advanced vehicle illumination efforts and under the ConnectedDrive, they have introduced a thermal imaging camera that helps the driver anticipate what lies far ahead. This certainly enables the driver to take the right action.

How does this work?

Its workings involves sensors that can identify the presence of an object some way off. It then illuminates the object with a spot of light while also sending a beam of light unto the road in the direction of the object. This helps the driver to see the object and then take necessary steps such as stopping or swerving.

With this system, you can be aware of objects about 97 meters away. This is made possible by the sensors which sense the warmth being given off by an object some distance away. It is generally improved by the infrared camera with a 24 degree viewing angle. Combine all these with the improvement in light technology that has made it possible for drivers to see around corners with the swiveling modules used LED lighting technology.

It does not end there. It gets better. The system does not just think of the driver alone, it considers the oncoming driver also by anticipating the oncoming car and dimming the lights appropriately so as not to blind the other driver. Would it not be nice if every car had this system? Driving at night would certainly be a lot more pleasurable than it currently is for many.
