Almost five decades have passed since the very first computer mouse was developed at the Stanford lab in the 60s. The mouse was invented by Douglas Engelbart and Bill English and was named ‘Bug’ in 1964.

The picture posted at the top is of the mock-up at Albuquerque’s Startup museum exhibit. You can check for the simplicity of its two-axis mechanism by having a look at the bottom of the device.

In 1967, Engelbart applied for, and in 1970 he received a patent for the wooden shell with two metal wheels. Well, we have now a horde of high-tech mousse on the market shelves and I don’t think we have time to think of the ‘Bug’ now.
