BiTMICRO is back in news with their plans to launch World’s largest solid-state drive (yet again). They currently hold the record to their name for their 832 GB SSD. This time around, they’ve doubled that figure and will come up with a 1.6 TB SSD. Those are awesome numbers and their competitors have only achieved 1/3rd of that mark. New SSD will have the standard 3.5” form-factor and will offer speeds of 230 MBps for write and 320 MBps for read operations in burst mode. This one is rather a rugged one as its got operating temperature between -40 degrees Celsius and 85 degrees Celsius and operating shock of up to 1500 Gs.
Rudy Bruce, Executive Vice President for Marketing and Sales at BiTMICRO Networks says, Ruggedness has always been the strength of flash SSDs in the military market, and the forthcoming addition of the E-Disk Altima Ultra320 SSD to Bitmicro’s line-up will shore up the company’s support for I/O intensive and high-capacity applications
