Biometric systems that require unique physical or behavioral features, such as features of the face, iris or finger, is a similar sort of system, which potentially will replace keys, cards, passports, PINs etc. and use your body parts and tone of voice as your passwords or secret codes.

Currently there are few programs in progress that follow such systems, for example, US Visa Waiver Program, which requires all passports allocated following 26 October 2006 must include a machine legible chip with the passport holder's information and a biometric identifier, to detect passport deceptions.

With biometrics, you may simply have to appear in front of a camera where a computer will match the key features of the face with those recorded in the passport chip, and verify your identity. Keyholes of your home or office gate will make way for fingerprint sensors.

Though, it is just the beginning and lots of research work is needed to be done, the biometric systems are certainly going to revolutionize the potential security measures.
