Electricity and power generation is one of the major problems, especially when it comes to far flung and scattered places of Africa and Asia.
To counter the problem in rural Africa Swedish telecoms networks group Ericsson and South African cell phone operator MTN with the support of GSM Association’s development fund are all set for a project, in Nigeria, which will replace diesel with biofuels in electricity generation to help power cell phone networks.
Energy will be processed from palm, groundnut, jatropha and pumpkin seeds; and the crops to produce the biofuel will be cultivated nearby places to the projects. 80 percent cost of the rural phone network is expected to cover up by the project.
This is a great establishment that not only helps to counter the power problem but will put a check on environmental pollution as well.
