Biking your way to oral hygiene!

Posted By: B.Sameer Kumar | Nov 5 2007

My first thoughts about bikes would be; fun but I'm still more into cars. My first thought about oral hygiene would be; should have it to the point where someone does not find you repelling. But the problem with that is that we have this manifestation of a torture chamber (or call it the lesser version of an electric chair), that stands between you & those sparking clean teeth. I hated a visit to the dentist always. It was like torture with his sharp tools making their way into my mouth & he used to have these gloves that smelled like Yuk! The smell of plastic or rubber, I do not know what that is.

What am I getting to? Good question indeed. It is obviously clear that getting someone to a dentist's chair is no easy task. Irrespective of your age, you just want to cancel on that one appointment. So here is what Eric Nohlin, an industrial designer from Sweden gifted to his dentist, to make sure his work reached out to more people. This bike you see is called 'Dentistcruiser' & is an innovative little idea to spread awareness among the youth among oral hygiene. Yes, you will have to peddle it & this gives the dentist some exercise. It looks pretty simple & conveys a simple message in an effective way. It seems good visually & I wonder if we can put an engine in that big tooth to make it run.

Yes, I want to make a huge cavity that huge teeth & put on engine in that. But I guess that defeats the purpose of its manufacture. Hmmm... On second thought; maybe not. It teaches about cavities! Anyway it is a crazy little concept, which is like a political party shaping its vehicle in the shape of its election symbol. I wish I could gift one of these to my dentist with a great engine that drives it up to 120 km/hr & then just ignore putting the brakes on it. That should be sweet revenge for all those hours in the chair, but then... on second thought... he does do a good job; so maybe not for now.
