Smartphones have made our life ever so convenient and smooth, keeping us in touch with friends and family, not just by voice calls alone but through different social networking websites, chat clients, different applications et al, from anywhere, anytime. smartphones have become hubs of entertainment on the go for us, offering us users all kinds of multimedia facilities to relish. While the forthcoming year will have a lot to offer in the smartphones, it is just fitting to dive back into the depth of time and inform you of the best smartphones we’ve seen in 2010.

1. Apple iPhone 4
Launched way back at the Worldwide Developers Conference, the iPhone 4 by Apple is the hottest and the best selling phone of the year. At the WWDC, Steve Jobs said, “We’re going to take the biggest leap since the original iPhone. This is really hot. Beyond a doubt the most precise thing, the most beautiful thing we’ve ever made.” All critics who had their faces frowned than final bowed to the iPhone 4’’s success over the year. The iPhone 4 supports a cool 3.5-inch IPS 960×640 display offering 800:1 contrast ratio – Apple calls this the ‘Retina Display’. The phone has a 5MP camera with 720p video capability, a front facing camera for video calling and video chat (FaceTime), it supports Wi-Fi and has a vibrant and exciting exterior and an A4 processor under the hood.
Price and Availability: iPhone 4 16GB is priced at $199, while the 32GB version is priced at $299, each with a two-year contract. iPhone 4 is available for purchase from Best Buy.

2. HTC Sprint EVO 4G
HTC was very active in the smartphone market this past year, and one phone that did its image a lot of good is the HTC Sprint EVO 4G, the first fully-integrated 4G smartphone supporting Sprint’s WiMax high-speed wireless service. Based on Google’s famous Android 2.1 OS, the phone features 4.3-inch 480×800 capacitive touchscreen and is powered by Snapdragon QSD8650 1GHz processor. Additionally, the EVO 4G comes stuffed in with a GB of built-in storage, 512MB RAM, 8MP camera on the rear with auto-focus and a 720p HD, 1.3MP front facing camera and Wi-Fi.

3. Nokia N8
Nokia, one of the most trusted phone brand you’d say, has lagged behind in the smartphone market worldwide owing to his rigidity to stick to the Symbian OS, but with the upgraded version of the same, Nokia got the N8 to make the difference for the brand. After long delays, the world finally got the first Symbian^3 powered device – the Nokia N8. Available in an anodized aluminum casing in five colors, the N8 supporting 5-band 3G data support has a 3.5 inch 640×360 pixels resolution OLED display, 16GB memory with microSD support and 12 megapixel camera with Carl Zeiss optics capable of capturing 720p videos. Besides the smarphones supports HDMI port, USB , FM transmitter and is powered by a 680 MHz processor.

4. HTC Droid Incredible
HTC has consistently impressed us with its wide range of smartphones. This year too was no different, one phone that kept the HTC flag flying high was is the HTC Droid Incredible. The blazing fast smartphone runs Android 2.1 OS and is available with Verizon's 3G network. Featuring an -megapixel camera and 8GB of internal memory the phone’s complete with Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS and 3G for connectivity and convenience.

5. Samsung Galaxy S
Samsung Galaxy S has been one of my favorite phones of the year, featuring a large 4-inch WVGA Super AMOLED screen, the Samsung Galaxy S has a powerful 1GHz processor and runs Android 2.2 Froyo. The smartphone features a 5MP with option for 720p HD video recording. Measuring about a millimetre thicker than the iPhone 4, the Galaxy S has a fine chrome bezel and includes 3G, Wi-Fi and A-GPS
