Did you feel worried when you misplaced your credit or a debit card, thinking the one who finds it may use it to his advantage. Well brush your worries aside, for the next time it may not worry you the like, as Banking has got so much more safer lately, thanks to this new product in development in collaboration effort by Swiss company AXSionics and Siemens. The product in view is shaped in size just like your average credit card, only a little thicker which houses a fingerprint reader, an LCD display and a few optical sensors. The device works just as an ordinary ATM or credit card but is well more secure since it works only in the original card user’s hands.
While handling credit transfers, the bank sends the encrypted information to the internet user’s (Account holder) screen in the form of rapidly alternating black and white field known as flicker code. The customer reads and decrypts this data using the credit card-sized ID card with optical sensors and a fingerprint identifying the User. The company claims that the system can be implemented without any additional software on all commonly used PCs or laptops. The solution is already being tested by several banks in Germany and Switzerland. Well regardless of the cost it is backed with, the innovation is pretty certain to find many takers the one’s as careless as me, who have lost half their weight just searching for the lost cards, highly concerned over the security issues.
