Amazon Kindle is a 7-inch capacitive screen tabloid powered with Android OS. The company claims that the much awaited kindle tablet is going to give other quality tabs a run for their money. From the reports, the Amazon Kindle tablet is a multi-touch pad which gives content through a full color screen. The previous product of Amazon named ‘kindle’ that made books more fun, is the inspiration and base for this new high-end tabloid. The same features of Amazon services the previous kindle had for books will now be there for latest movies, music and applications too. Amazon has already invested heavily in Android; it has its own Android app store now.

Pricing and availability
According to reports, the Amazon Kindle will be launched in late October or November. The 7-inch version that is named coyote will have Nvidia Tegra 2 as the OS and the higher model named Hollywood will have a quad-core “Kal-el” processor. The Price of the entry level coyote will be about $250 in the US markets. There is nothing yet said about the price of any higher model. This is half of that of an iPad but is costlier than the competitive Android based tabloids available in the market. It might be the case that Amazon drops the price of the Kindle further down to encourage the sale and bet on their app store to get their money even.
What’s great?
The new Amazon Kindle will have a 6GB internal space, Wi-Fi, 3G and SD card support. The LCD display will be a 7-inch capacitive touch with no physical buttons on the surface and will be a full-touch tabloid with a full color back-lit display. The music player embedded is the Amazon’s cloud player and the movies will be played by default through the Amazon’s instant video player. Digitimes report claims that the device will have its display from E-ink holdings. Fringe Field Switching Technology will be used in the touch screens. This will enable the tab to have various viewing angles, just like apple’s iMac. The all so favorite Kindle app for e-books will be seen in the interface which is an expected advantage to e-book lovers. Since Amazon is into Android, the OS will be an Android with a twist. Reports say that Amazon has pushed Android to design Kindle OS exclusively. The company claims that it will be far different from the Android tabloids available in the market. If the Amazon Kindle turns out to be anywhere comparable to the Apple iPad, for half the price it will soon be famous.
What’s bad?
Well, the device has no physical buttons on it which can be considered as a drawback according to a lot of people. The basic lack in the features of the Amazon Kindle is the lack of camera. I am not talking about the front camera for video calls but even the back. There is no camera to be found on the device. This can be heartbreaking for the people expecting to use their tabloid for clicking pictures and video calling. Is this cost cutting or a serious miscalculation, this is yet to be discovered. My guess is that the company is counting on the popularity of the popular Kindle Reader which is a leader in e-book readers.
Bottomline
The Amazon Kindle very much resembles the Blackberry Playbook in the outer layout. It has a 7-inch display just as that of Playbook and Samsung 7-inch tab. Steve jobs once said that a 7-inch display is not sufficient for a tabloid. Well, the iPad though costly has captured about 70% of the tabloid market. The rest 30% is a fight b/w all the other Android based tabs including Blackberry, Toshiba, Samsung and more. It will be interesting to see where the challenger ‘Kindle’ tabloid makes its stand.
