AVX Aircraft reveals mock ups for DARPA’s four-seater flying car

Since DARPA’s request [Transformer (TX) program] for a flying car, few aviation giants and start ups alike are trying their way to lure the Pentagon’s science department. After Logi AeroSpace’s proposed Tyrannos – a four-wheeled car that relies on four small rotary wings for its vertical takeoff and landing, AVX Aircraft has come up with mock ups for a dual rotor and ducted fan driven aircraft. The proposed road ready four-seater aircraft would be good to carry 1,040 lb payload to 10,000 ft at 80 mph to 250 miles on single fuel. The concept is expected to do 140mph on road, and convert from a road rocket to an aircraft in under a minute, taking off and landing vertically.
