Now like all other devices that go mobile, the ALPR has also undergone the same development.

A new mobile version of the device is now available in British Columbia.

The system is so fast that it can detect 3,000 license plates per hour with three different cameras that are mounted outside the police vehicles.

These cameras include:

Front left camera: This is to capture the license plates of oncoming vehicles.

Front right camera: This is to detect the license plates of the cars that are parked on the right side of the road.

Rear right-angle camera: This is to capture the license numbers of the cars that are parked in parking lots.

An onboard computer downloads all the license plate numbers from the system and compares it with the list of stolen or other wanted cars. Whenever there is a match the system sounds an alarm in the cabin.
