The robot Autom along with keeping a record of what you have been eating throughout the day, also inspires you to look good and remain in shape, thus yearning for your healthier state. It possesses an artificial female voice for commands and has a touchscreen belly for all kinds of input. It is harmless, and like a human it won't rebuke you for eating one extra dessert but would surely keep account of the same. But the question is, Does it actually HELP?

The inventor of Autom, Cory Kidd feels that "Autom is definitely much better than the available weight loss websites and various other smartphone applications that are being marketed in the name of weight loss programs." He claims this because he feels that a human establishes a bond with this small robot, which then helps them to stick to their goals for longer ensuring an effective measure of weight loss, courtesy the robots guidance and scheduling.
The other important question that strikes me is, whether people require a robotic assistant, and if yes, then how much are they willing to spend for something as wonderful? According to Intuitive Automata's plan, Autom will be available on its website at the end of this year and will be sold out via the concerned health insurance companies. The selling price being estimated is around $600 or $500. So are you ready to take Autom home - the robot that’ll direct you toward a healthier lifestyle?
