It wasn’t that long ago that we heard of AU Optronics delivering an e-book reader with a touch interface at Display Taiwan 2009. Cometh the hour, cometh the man – AUO to keep its words, has exhibited an e-book reader consisting of a touch panel. Based on the Microcup technology from SiPix Imaging Inc, the e-book reader flaunts a 6-inch touch-sensitive display at 800 x 600 and resolution at 167dpi.
With comparatively higher 8:1 contrast ratio and 16 gray levels, the displayed e-book reader will be made available by the third quarter of the year. The touch sensitive e-book reader is indeed novel, while most may think 6-inch display is just too small in comparison to the massive 9.6-inches of the Kindle DX, AUO is thinking of introducing 8- and 9-inch models, so worries have an alternative. No price info, but we guess the Kindle’s still gonna fetch more than this.
