ATR and Honda develop new 'Brain-Machine Interface'

Advanced Telecommunications Research Institute International ('ATR') and Honda Research Institute Japan Co., Ltd. ('HRI') have successfully created synergy between human brain and machine with its new "Brain Machine Interface" ('BMI') for controlling robots via brain activity signals without any brain incision.

The BMI technology decodes human brain activity and controls robotic machines in real time. The technology uses MRI or implanted array-based neural decoding allowing robot to mimic the actions. The technology has unleashed a new platform for the development of future high-end brain-machine interface.
