Eee PC notebook is arguably the most well known product that Asus has in its inventory. So it is hardly surprising if industry sources (of DigiTimes) report that Asustek Computer is in the process of launching a separate brand going by the name of Eee. And this fits in perfectly with reports of other Eee products hitting shelves later in 3rd quarter. Among products that are in the offing is the Eee TV (E-TV), Eee Desktop (E-DT) and Eee Monitor. Add to these the original Eee notebook and Asus has enough products to go in for a branding effort. The use: separate Eee brand might successfully dislodge the low-cost market tag that has been so readily attached to it. Also Asus would be able to market its successful range in a more determined manner without any worry of taking eyes off of its other offerings. These reports are however unconfirmed as yet. Asustek has not commented and hence separate brand or not is still quite unclear. Trust picture to get clearer in near future.
