Asustek has integrated a new kind of a SlideShow device in their new notebook computer, W5Fe.
This SlideShow device is a small LCD display that is attached to the outer cover of the Notebook much like a clamshell phone having two screens.
The SlideShow allows the users to access emails, music and pictures without even turning on the Notebook. Similarly if the device is equipped with Windows Media Center Remote then you can also access music, video clips and Electronic Programs without booting into the operating system.
The device is based on Portal Player’s Preface technology. The kit includes a USB interface, 32MB SDRAM, 1GB NAND memory, 320 x 240 color display and a PP5024 microcontroller.

We all can expect to see more of such devices at CES-2007 which is commencing next week. The device is expected to raise the cost of a notebook computer by a mere $40 and is aimed at notebooks that have a price tag of more than $1,500.
