The Asus Eee PC series has given us a lot to cheer about, but the lack of 3G connectivity has always been too conspicuous to be ignored. Apparently, the company has decided to answer our prayers and introduce an internal 3.75G mobile broadband link to the Eee PC 901. The package, however, wouldn’t see any significant changes, with the Intel Atom chip, 1GB RAM and 8.9inch display being retained. The battery, though, has been beefed up to offer up to 7.5hrs. The sub notebook will also be upgraded to offer 16GB on the SSD. With the 3G connectivity, users can expect up to 7.5Mbps down and 2Mbps down.

Pricing & Availability: Rumors tell us the notebook will be priced at $600. However, we prefer to wait till October, which is the expected launch date for the 3G-enabled Eee PC 901.

Watch This: Since its launch, the Eee PC 901 has done reasonably well. However, like we said, the absence of 3G did turn out to be a dampener of sorts. With its latest announcement, we believe the Eee PC series has received a huge shot in the arm and the 901 gets to pass on the baton.

Word around the Web:

Adam Hartley from Techradar says:

Asus launches the ultimate miniportable netbook. Again.

Robert Nelson from Gadgetell says:

All in all this sounds like a great bit of news, but sadly this particular model is only scheduled to hit T-Mobile...in Germany.
