Asus- Eee Box desktops in U.K by August
Asus’ Eee Box desktop shall be launched in the U.K this August, which initially will run only on Windows XP Home Edition. The notebook runs on a low power consuming N270 processor and the desktop on Atom 230 processor. The CPUs are clocked at 1.6 GHz and contain 512 KB of L2 Cache, 1 GB DDR 2 Memory, 80 GB Hard Drive, 802.11n Wi-Fi, Gigabit Ethernet and a 5 in 1 memory card reader. 3 USB slots and a VGA are provided. The downside is that it comes with Windows XP pre installed and those who particularly use Linux may have to wait for a longer time. At this stage it is not known if the Linux run systems which are expected at a later stage are going to be any cheaper than the Windows XP run systems. The desktops are expected to be priced lesser than the 319 pounds tag attached to the 901.
