A simple polygon that has marveled humanity for nearly 50 centuries, continues to marvel more every new day! Miraculous use of pyramids keep on hitting the headlines, and here comes one more story. Delta 7 Sports has recently launched their Arantix Mountain Bike that makes use of IsoTruss carbon fiber to create the most light-weight and toughest mountain bike ever.

Interestingly, the IsoTruss technology actually uses a series of numerous small pyramid-shaped structures that are all connected together to form a closed tube. This frame is about 10 times stronger than steel frame of it's weight.
Fabrication of this frame is however, a completely manual, tedious job that involves very high amount of human efforts. The pyramids are made of hand-woven strands of carbon fiber that are bundled together and wrapped in Kevlar. Because each frame requires up to 300 hours of hand-weaving, Delta 7 will make only 200 this year, selling for $7,000 each starting this spring.
