Going somewhere these holidays? May I venture a suggestion (of course I may, since I’m writing this bit). Go Germany, well, Berlin to be more specific. And while you are there, spend some euros (260 to be exact) and stay at the Radisson SAS Hotel in Berlin-Mitte. This hotel is the location of what is flaunted as the largest cylindrical aquarium in the world.
Tagged AquaDom, this tank is also the largest acrylic glass cylinder in the world. It measures at a whooping 11 meters across and 25 meters tall, and holds (hold your breath) 900,000 liters of saltwater. Of course, with that quantity of water, it has a number of fishes too. Some 2,500 fishes to be more precise and these belong to 56 different fishes. The responsibility for feeding the fishes and cleaning up the tank is entrusted to dedicated divers.
Several rooms in this 5 star hotel offer a view of the giant attraction. For visitors who demand a closer look at the things, there is an opportunity to travel into the tank. Don’t worry they can do all this from within the glass elevator that runs all the way up inside the AquaDom.

The AquaDom was opened in December 2003. It was built at an estimated cost of around 12.8 million euros. Reynolds Polymer Technology from US was in-charge for building the glass cylinder (guess we all know who’s responsible if there’s a crack somewhere).
A picture is worth a thousand words. Well, just to be sure, I’m leaving you with a video, don’t come complaining.
