Calling all golf pros for a tech-filled outing on the course is the recently announced Approach G5. This reveal from Garmin is the first touchscreen handheld GPS device designed exclusively for the golf course. With thousands of preloaded courses and no annual fee, the Approach G5 introduced at CES shows golfers the exact distance to the center of thegreen and to the other key features of the course in order to minimize the guesswork.

Decked out with a touchscreen 3″ color display, and weighing in at only 6.8 ounces, the GPS device has only Play and Preview options to mess with. Powered by two AA batteries, the Approach G5 conforms with the rules of the R&A and USGA.

The GPS receiver provides the golfer with detailed course maps, keeping you graphically informed with the distance and direction of the target even when the user’s on the move. The waterproof Approach G5 also has a touchscreen digital scorecard that keeps record of your game score while the mapping info displayed keeps you informed of where your shots are landing and how much you have to improve.
