If we are to believe, then the Apple might be treating its consumers with OLED iPads by the end of this very year. These second generation iPads, using 5.6-inch and 7-inch OLED panels will mainly target the e-book readers and the 9.7 inch model will be targeted at multimedia entertainment. These rumors surface from Apple placing iPad orders with Taiwan based component makers for the fourth quarter of this year and the first quarter of the next year. The 9.7 inch model is bound to go under some changes, as Apple will add Chimei Innolux (CMI) as one of its panel suppliers. It was originally expected that Pegatron Technology will bring out the aforementioned orders, but it seems according to the sources the orders have been snatched by Compal. However, according to Mingchi Kuo, Samsung Electronics’ tight OLED capacity is not enough to supply Apple’s new devices for the fourth quarter of this year.
