Just another day before we have the iPad in our hands, but Apple isn’t resting any time soon. Next up from the company could be a 3D head mounted display that would be worn like glasses. At least that’s what the patent application for a “Head-Mounted Display Apparatus For Retaining a Portable Electronic Device With Display” tells us. Filed way back in August of 2008, this informs us of the eagerness Apple has to venture into the league of 3D video glasses. The application has this device as a wearable display which would be capable of playing audio and video content from the mobile devices like the iPod and the iPhone, all wirelessly. The device would support stereoscopic imaging, and when synced with a camera would also assist in hands-free navigation. We think it is a viable concept, which if Apple wants, they can actually pull off.
