AMD joins the race with its very first 65nm chips

Long after Intel introduced its 65nm chips, AMD has also rolled out its nice little collection of Athlon 64 X2 dual-core desktop processors. The X2 4000+, 4400+, 4800+ and 5000+ are all available now, and priced from $169 to $301. The company predicts that this new line up consumes half the power of that of Intel's Core 2 Duo chips. These are a great processor chips, which boasts superior power management features and are being offered at a good price. Notebook chips should follow in the first half of 2007.

May be with this move, AMD wants to catch its rival Intel, but I doubt it as Intel is already working on its 'Penryn' 45nm Chips with much improved features and sophisticated design.
