The ongoing war to dominate market between AMD and Intel seems to have inspired AMD to prepare stronger weapon capable of snatching some share from Intel's well-established claws.

This time quad-core architecture will form the topic for battle.
If I am not wrong, Intel was the first to ship quads in international market.
But, AMD has just jolted up the competitor as it has announced it's fresh Phenom X3 quad core processor this week.
Phenom own it's birth to company's latest Barcelona quad-core technology and include four cores in it's original design with one disabled.
As it's war cry, AMD Phenom boasts of unique design with much intelligent use of energy and system resources, driving optimum performance-per-watt, an integrated DDR2 memory controller, Hyper Transport technology links, and 128-bit Floating Point Units.
It is only after it's launch in first quarter of 2008, we can hope to get any details about it's pricing and reliability.
Anyway, as far as the consumer's needs are concerned, it's a great step to fill the gap between dual-core and quad-core puzzle.
