The world of gadgets takes a new twist with introduction of the Innovating Smart Book from Always Innovating. This is a device that transforms from a mobile device to a tablet to a netbook and vice-versa. What’s actually peculiar about the Smart Book is that it unlike the Fujitsu Lifebook T580 or the Dell’s Inspiron Duo tablet doesn’t fold out or swivels the screen to transform into a handset or tablet, but instead actually provides a removable screen which can be separated for the notebook to become a tablet PC and a handset, and can be attached back to form a laptop.

The removable mobile device can be used to make VoIP phone calls or be used as a tablet for web surfing etc. The Smart Book makes provision for a USB to HDMI adapter, and a slot for storing a USB dongle. Powered by an ARM Cortex-A8 processor with 512MB of RAM, 256MB of NAND flash storage and an 8G microSD card, the Smart Book comes with a custom user interface and runs anything between Ubuntu Linux, Google Chrome or Android.
Featuring an 8.9 inch, 1024 x 600 pixel capacitive touchscreen display, the Smart Book further has WiFi, Bluetooth for connectivity and supports 720p HD video output. The three tier Smart Book has three separate batteries, we expected, 12000mAh battery in the keyboard, and 6000mAh and 1500mAh battery in the tablet and handset respectively. Always Innovating is taking pre-orders for the whole kit for $549, though individual components or a combination can also be ordered for prices starting at $199.
