Just recently we saw a multi-touch interactive table, which creates tangible 3D content. To thrive in the same direction to an extent, Japan's National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST), has released the i3Space – a system that lets the user feel as if he is touching a 3D image. The system recognizes tactile and kinesthetic sensation in real time, letting the user feel the 3D object on-screen in the fingertips. A great creation for the medical and gaming industries, this employees real-time VR space creation system, which identifies the virtual force being applied onto the 3D image based on the movement and the position of the finger. The system’s illusionary tactile and kinesthetic sense controller tracks multi-positions by using multiple cameras. Details of the i3Space is scheduled to be made public at the CEDEC 2010.
