Louise Crandal and her eagle, called, Cossack are helping biologists understand the way birds move in free flight For those adventurous lots out there this is one interesting news. Zoologists Graham Taylor and Adrian Thomas are currently undertaking a study to understand precisely how birds manage its free flights so skillfully.

By placing a pack on the back of a bird from which the 'inertial measurement unit' records details of the bird's position and shape of the wings and tail in free flight and its corresponding head and eye movements they hope to decipher the bird's control system when information from the pack is sent via a radio transmitter to a receiver on the ground.

The implication of this experiment is that a more aerodynamic form of airplanes is now possible. By imitating the flight movements of birds as seen from the experiment more agile aircrafts will now be possible including even the 'morphing wing' craft.
