After AMD, Intel too slashes quad-core chip prices

We told you a few days ago that AMD has reduced the prices of its processor lineup. While they did so for almost the complete list offered by the company, its arch rival has done it for the quad-core and dual-core lineup.

Intel has just announced that the company's 2.93GHz Core 2 Quad QZ6800 with a 1066MHz FSB will now cost just $999, the 2.6GHz Q6700 will be available for a price tag of $530. The 2.4GHz Q6600 saw the most steep decline as the company waived off almost half its price taking it to just $300 also making it the cheapest quad-core chip in the market.

Intel also reduced the price of some dual-core chips as well taking around $20 off the cost of the 2.2GHz E5400 and the 2GHz E4400.

This may be good news for some who had patience to wait for the prices to fall, we sympathize with the rest of you who were not so patient and bought these high-end processors a few weeks ago. Serves you right, impatient ones.
