Advert downloads during football matches courtesy Bluepod

There are limited chances that you could get bored during end-to-end Premiership action. And yet you wouldn’t want to be unprepared for any such eventuality either. Bluepod believes (and it has got reasons for doing so) that fans would be willing to spend boring moments during the match in trying to download content via Bluetooth.

As a matter of fact, the company as already made deals with clubs like Blackburn Rovers, Birmingham

City, West Ham, Wolves, and Celtic. Fans at these clubs’ matches will be able to download Audio/Video content like club fixtures, club profiles and so on via BT. This content would have small embedded adverts. All this means that fans wouldn’t have to shell out a penny for downloads

while the advertisers would be charged around 40-70 pence per download.

A trial at one of Portsmouth’s matches saw nearly 6,000 fans download a movie. From a crowd of nearly 20,000 fans, this is not a bad fraction to start-off at.

And this service doesn’t mean unnecessary inconvenience to fans since only those opting for the service shall receive ads on their cell phones. Frankly speaking I see little need for anyone to take his eyes off of action, lest he misses something. However, these distractions could come in handy when your side’s three goals down before

half-time.
