A skating maniac sped his way to a world record on a roller-coaster

A roller-coaster ride just gives the adrenaline rush to many, but not this German named Dirk Auer. In order to get his dose of adrenaline, he strapped his specially designed in-line skates to the roller-coaster track. The rest is history.

These custom built skates had 16 tires on each shoe to provide the much needed traction, as there were points on the track where he was at 90 degrees. Dirk rolled down the 860 meter track in a jiffy, 1 minute, traveling at a speed of 90 km/h (54mph). This stunt was full of perils, even a small stray nail could have certainly cost this daredevil his life. But Dirk stood up to the challenges and "rolled-on" to create a new world record. That sure is a "Speedy" way to set a record. More pictures after the jump.
