Music is indeed divine. Whatever might be your mood, there is always a tune that helps you feel better. It is probably one global language that everyone loves and lives. However, some really like to make a statement with their music. While there are plenty of modern gadgets that allow you to carry your music and with the iPod revolution in full swing, you can carry thousands of songs with you wherever you travel. But what if you wanted to have an outdoor party? What if you are one of those metal heads who likes his music really loud?
Here comes the role of portable speaker. Everyone wishes they had a set of portable ghetto speakers that would sweep people off their feet just with their sheer volume. But for having such a system, one needs to not only take care of the quality of the sound, but also ensure that the speaker set is truly portable. I mean, what is the point in having a speaker set that is as good as any, but is stuck at home as it’s just too damn heavy to carry around. Then you might not call it portable at all.
A couple of bight young lads have decided to make a portable Ghetto system from very basic components within a budget of around €250. Now to start building the system, you basically need a couple of good light weight speakers that give the right quality of sound. Remember that it is not just about the loudness but producing clear sound even at a very high pitch. The Bass of the sound must be free of any disturbance.
Once you have chosen the speakers of your choice (and that choice would vary from person to person), then you can go about getting a circuit for the amplifier. You can either build it from an assembled circuit, or go about making your own from the very basic components. This purely depends on both your interest and your knowledge in handling electronics. Once your circuit is in place, then comes the arduous task of building the case. Now this is a lot of work with the cutting of plywood (plywood, as it is light) and then shaping it to make a case out of it. You can use artificial leather for giving it a wonderful look.
Obviously making one costs you around €230, which is a lot cheaper than what you get in the market. It also gives you the added satisfaction of making something useful. Then, there is all the hard work and toil that comes along with it. Moreover, if you screw it up, then that is plenty of money down the drain. So think before you get adventurous yourself. It is harder than it looks.
