In the world of loneliness, where hours are spent in front of that PC all alone, wishing only to see a human around the desk but none to be found, a cute robotic penguin that is tailored to live on your desk could just be the apt companion you desire. Dubbed the MyDeskFriend, the robotic penguin is equipped with sensors to be communicated with in multiple ways. With an autonomous lifecycle and capability to connect to the internet and Facebook in particular, the bot in its cute voice can read out the messages, updates and emails to you.
You could simply use voice commands to talk to it, or let your fingers guide it around the desk. Its efficient IR sensors detect the edges of the surface it is placed on and thus keep it from falling over. The bot’s created to change colors of the eyes depending on five different moods. And courtesy of a built-in accelerometer, the penguin knows when you’re poking it or shaking it. Just play safe, for you never know when the little thing raises up to slap you, when it’s made available in September for $99. Video after the jump.
