We all remember the Canadian filmmaker Rob Spence, who mounted a mini camera into his prosthetic eye, now taking the cyborg attitude to a new scale; we have NYU photo professor Waffa Bilal gearing to surgically implant a camera into the back of his head. The camera will be embedded into the head using a piercing-like attachment, and once stuck at the back of the head the camera will click photos every 60 seconds and beam the same to monitors at the Mathaf: Arab Museum of Modern Art in Qatar. This artwork that’s dubbed The 3rd I, will open new realms for Bilal, who’ll be able to record every moment of his life. Still, how comfortable will he be with that camera sticking out of his head can be guessed from the fact that he’ll have the camera covered by lens when he is in the NYU campus, where he will be teaching actively even after the implant in a few weeks from now.
