A DIY effort can land you into a flying WW I plane

If you are confident of your DIY skills and have some knowledge of airplanes, you can build one for yourself and start exploring the skies. The DIY kit is based on Sopwith Scout from World War I, and for $12,495, Airdrome Aeroplanes will give you everything you need to create a World War era fighter, minus the machine gun. Throw in another $195, and there’s a kit for the machine gun as well.

A 110 hp Rotec R2800 7-cylinder radial engine provides power for the plane that should ideally take 400 hours to be built. Once that’s all been done, you get to fly World War I style, and then boast about your exploits at the pub.
