A 64GB Apple iPhone 4 prototype spotted in China

Prototype of a 64GB iPhone 4 has been found in Hong Kong, China. The device looks exactly like the iPhone 4 prototype that tech blog Gizmodo surfaced before the official launch of the product in June 2010. The smartphone has its serial number, FCC ID number and memory capacity engraved in the rear panel in many Xs so like the Gizmodo iPhone 4. A Chinese blog first discovered the news about the 64GB iPhone 4, later MIC Gadget posted a number of images of the device, confirming the news.

The owner of the 64GB iPhone 4 prototype has put it on sale in a grey market in Hong Kong for a price of HK$13,500 or (US$1,734). It looks like the smartphone is leaked from one of Apple’s component makers in China. Examining the images and serial number of the 64GB iPhone 4, analysts stated that the device was manufactured before the launch iPhone 4 in 2010.

In short, it suggests that Apple might have put aside the idea of launching a 64GB iPhone 4 last year. Apple launched only two models of iPhone 4 in June; 16GB and 32GB. It does not mean Apple will not bring out the much-awaited 64GB iPhone model. Perhaps, we can see an iPhone 5 with 64GB memory capacity in June, 2011. Apple has been blamed by some users last year for failing to roll in a 64 GB model for its iPhone 4.
