By unveiling the iPad 2, Apple has created turbulence in the tablet market. The iPad's improved version is a supremely sophisticated device which score points in terms of inches, ounces and performance. It packs some spectacular specs, significant number of applications, amazing games and intriguing ebooks. While launching the product Steve Jobs said that" it is the most successful consumer product ever launched." To an extent, iPad 2 has terrified the Android competitors like Motorola Xoom and Samsung Galaxy Tab. Its A5 1GHz dual-core processor would be a challenge to its competitors but specs like unaltered battery performance, lack of Flash would be an advantage to them. Let's check out the core areas where iPad2 scores and looses points:

Things we love:
1. The dual-core processor
Apple iPad 2's A5 dual-core processor is a very tough and agile processor which ultimately accelerates the speed of the entire device. It is a Apple made processor which has tremendously increased the iPad 2's speed. The bottom-line is that iPad 2 is having a faster multitasking, faster loading and enhanced performance.
2. Built-in 3G capability
iPad was having a limited network limitation which has been overcome by iPad 2. Unlike iPad, it gets connected to AT & T and Verizon without any need for specific download. There is an inbuilt 3G facility in iPad 2 which establishes the connection. Mi-Fi 2200 Hotspot and other installations were needed in iPad for getting access to wireless network other than Verizon.
3. iOS 4.3
iOS 4 was developed by Apple to counter the Google made Android OS. With the iOS 4.3 OS the user can browse, read and surf everything just with a touch. It has delivered Apple iPad 2 with more than 65,000 applications. Apple claims that advanced iOS 4.3 is a secure and safe OS which works seamlessly with Apple products. A new feature comes with iOS 4.3 which is called FaceTime for getting an enthralling browsing experience.
4. Dual camera
The previous version of Apple, iPad received strong criticism as it lacked a camera. But iPad 2 assures a provision for 2 cameras for HD video recording. The camera supports video chatting, conference video chatting with an application called Face Time.
5. Inexpensive Pad with better battery life
Apple iPad 2 comes in 2 variations, the 16 GB version has been priced at 499$ and the 32 GB version has been priced at 829$. The price is nominal for a pad which has been stuffed up with so much applications and specs. Ipad 2's battery life can give a runtime output of 10 hours and standby time of 1 month. All these factors will definitely raise the iPad 2's sales.
Things we hate:
1. Camera is there just for the name's sake
Apple might be boasting about the dual camera introduction but it is being considered as a crappy camera. When most of the tablet cameras are delivering an output of 1280x720p the iPad 2's 5 MP camera delivers resolution of 960x720p (although its specs mention resolution of 1280x720). To some degree the digital zoom also fails because of interpolation process.
2. Absence of 4G connection
Everybody expected a 4G connection with iPad 2 which the company also promised. It might happen, that you would by this tablet and after that you see your friend carrying another tablet with 4G connection. 4G connection should have been included in the tablet as most of its competitors are conducting the drills already.
3. Major miss outs
There are some major things which have been left out in iPad 2 like SIM card slot, voice telephony features retina display and GPS online. Even retina display has not been included in the iPad 2 which delivers a strong impact on the viewer with crisp resolution. These are some areas where Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 and LG Optimus Pad score the edge.Apple should have thought about all these points before upgrading the iPad.
4. Flash and NFC
Steve Jobs is still contending that Flash support is a useless and battery consuming software. So again the iPad 2's users won't get access to Flash sites and games. What ever Steve might say, one thing is for sure that flash things which are possible with other tablets won't be possible with iPad 2. NFC is also absent in iPad 2 which is there in other Android 2.3 Gingerbread devices.
5. USB and SD slots are still not there
One question which is hung in the air, is that why a SD and USB slot not included in iPad 2? How can a customer transfer the data and video to other devices. Off course, iDrive online data storage provision is there but it is again a time taking procedure. Cloud computing can be another solution for which a customer would have to shell out some extra money.
