What it offers

At last, Amazon has hopped into the tablet foray. The company has been reportedly working with its iPad killer tablet project for sometime around. An official announcement has now just realized the Kindle Fire Android tablet, which will arrive in stores by mid November 2011. Some analysts believe that Apple was driven to the world of tablets in inspiration of the success of Amazon Kindle. Since Apple iPad's made a debut in 2010, there have been murmurs that Amazon is also planning a beyond-an-e-reader tablet. Indeed, it has realized now. We can wait for Kindle Fire until next month. As it is a threat to the Apple iPad and other Android tablets, we have to profoundly review the product. Here, in this article, five attractive and five horrible things about Amazon Kindle Fire are detailed.

Things we love:

a) Price

Amazon is to float up its Kindle Fire for just $199 in the US. This low price factor is the most impressive thing with the Amazon tablet. You need to pay more than $400 to get either an iPad or any Android tablets. Amazon has valued its product lower than iPad and other tablets so as to win over the fresh tablet costumers. When the rumors about an Amazon tablet broke, specialists have recommended Amazon to price its tablet less than iPad's price.

b) Weight

In comparison with the leading tablets like Apple iPad 2 and Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1, Amazon Kindle Fire is quite lighter. The Amazon tablet just weighs at 14.6 ounces (413 grams), while iPad weighs around 600 grams and Galaxy Tab at 565 grams. It makes Amazon Kindle Fire an ultra portable tablet and e-book reader.

c) Operating System and performance

Kindle Fire is to play on the most advanced version of Android. The company has not clarified whether it will be Android 3.2 Honeycomb or the not-yet-announced Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. Moreover, Amazon has prepared its tablet as a complete e-reader and so it offers high web page loading capability.

d) Display and Battery Performance

To take advantage from the growing small tablet frenzy, Amazon has installed a 7-inch display on Kindle Fire. This IPS Gorilla Glass display offers 1024 x 600 pixel resolution. The device also promises battery life of eight hours of e-reading and 7.5 hours of video playback once wireless is switched off.

e) Wireless Mirroring and Native Streaming Media

Amazon Kindle Fire is equipped with enhanced wireless mirroring and media content streaming facilities. You can wirelessly stream contents from the tablet to a large television or other platforms. The feature is chiefly meant for corporate presentations.

Things we hate:

a) No camera

Quite amazingly, the Amazon tablet is without any cameras. As of today, most tablets sport a front facing camera for video chatting and a rear facing camera for general use. But Amazon has skipped both the cameras. You can not take images or video-chat with your friend on the device.

b) Less Internal storage

The internal storage capacity of the Amazon tablet is merely 8GB. When compared with the rivaling tablets, it is too less. Moreover, Amazon Kindle Fire is an inclusive e-reader and multimedia tablet. So it could have more internal memory.

c) Limited Apps

Lack of apps is one of big challenges the start-up technological products faces. Amazon’s Android app store is just with roughly 10,000 apps. It is, in fact, very scanty given that tablet users are largely attached with apps for everything at all.

d) No 3G

The Amazon tablet comes with Wi-Fi as the major connectivity option. The device is not attached with any cellular service providers as it is not supporting 3G or 4G connectivity option. Lack of 3G or 4G connectivity is a big shortfall because most of its rivals are equipped with the feature.

e) No GPS and Microphone

You will have no GPS or microphone on Amazon Kindle Fire. Shortage of microphone along with the lack of a front facing video camera means that the device is not meant either for video or audio chatting. As well, you can not use it to navigate through the Global Position System, a feature that comes often packed up with a handset.

Hope this article has given you a clear picture of the upcoming Amazon tablet, which has been in news for last several months. Even being a complete solution for e-reading and web browsing, the device misses some important multimedia features.
