electrowetting displays to come this year

Last week, Philips spin-off Liquidvista pronounced it is working on an electrowetting display and with the investment of 8 million euros, the fabrication will be instituted this year. It is not, literally, like peeing on an electric blanket and getting the light show. It is a system that develops or contracts a droplet of ink or grease under glass to draw one pixel. The ink disappears on contracting. For unknowns, Electrowetting is an affiliate of a slackly interlaced family of energy proficient reflective display technologies. Liquavista aims to manufacture miniature displays for utilizing them in mobile devices. Right away, the system is monochromatic, but color systems are anticipated to come into view soon, while reducing power usage. The color systems would be noticeably brighter than most up-to-the-minute display technologies. The Eindhoven-supported company is hopeful of its ColorMatch FreeStyle platform being much brighter than present LCD displays. So, LCDs could be a stuff of history in a flash.
