Laptops can be seen as one of the first devices to present a portable side to personal computers. Fusing all the core components of their bigger cousins into a more compact and sleeker form, the technology for laptops have always been on the advanced side. As a matter of fact, the general attributes of this very design were imparted on the field of even smaller yet powerful devices such as tablets and smartphones. But that does not necessarily mean, the innovative (and sometimes bizarre) nature of human ‘creative’ outburst hasn’t been present in the sober scope of laptops. Call it ingeniousness or call it vanity; but there are a plethora of amazingly weird laptop conceptions designed by enthusiasts and companies alike. So, without further palaver, let us check 10 such creations that took the top honors.

1. Hummer Laptop
Whenever we hear about 'Hummer', we always visualize a boisterously robust SUV blustering its way through the dust. Now, the Hummer Laptop may not be that robust, but it certainly falls under the category of 'semi-rugged' laptops. Hardy and capable of withstanding extreme temperature conditions, the pricing is certainly on the heftier side with $2988 printed on the tag.

2. Diamond Laptop
High end electronic accessories are one thing, but a laptop studded with solid palladium white gold plates, brilliant-cut diamonds of 80 carats and two rubies, certainly notches the competition up to a whole new highfalutin level. Designed by Tulip, the opulent creation is powered by AMD Turion 64 processor and 1GB of PC3200 DDR RAM. While not so gritty in its specs, the pricing certainly makes up for it at $336,557.

3. Million dollar laptop
We aren't yet done with ostentatious devices. But what makes the above pictured glitzy conception even more intriguing is the mystery surrounding the laptop's bearing. Touted to cost around a million dollars, there is very little info divulged by the creators (Luvaglio London), except for the fact that it is exquisitely hand made.

4. PlayStation 3 Mod
Coming backing to the realm of reality, we have something for the PlayStation enthusiasts. It is a full fledged PS3 mod contrived by one of the renowned console modders of our time - Ben Heckendorn. 5. Duke Nukem Laptop
The Duke (or at least his vibe) is back, and we are not talking about the not-so-good-as-expected game (made this year). Rather we are harping about the TYPE-NO1 laptop, which was the fruit of the collaboration of NEC and Takara. Behind the circuitry resembling Duke Nukem laboratories, is actually a LaVie G type L laptop with a 15.4-inch WXGA display. The contraption is powered by 1.6GHz AMD Mobile Sempron 3200+ processor (Turion 64 X2 TL-50) and1GB of DDR2 RAM.

6. Atari 800 XE Laptop
The master of modded console laptops Ben Heckendorn is back, and this time he has went on to design the Atari 800 XE laptop. Bringing back memories of the 1980's console, the conception comes with the circular keys and a breakout cartridge case. But the best visual feature is certainly the authentic Atari logo on the top (which unfortunately can't be seen in the picture).

7. Wii Laptop
Why shouldn't Wii get some mod love (after all it is also a part of the 'holy trinity' of seventh generation gaming consoles)? According to the modder, the bantam laptop has a 7 inch 16:9 widescreen LCD screen. The unique features include a Gamecube controller port, built-in short range sensor bar (along with its ports) and of course stereo sound.

8. Guitar Laptop
If you want to have your ticket to the 'cool' realm, then you certainly need to possess the Guitar laptop. Designed by guitar enthusiast Ben Lewry, it is basically a laptop adroitly crammed inside an electric guitar. 10. Xbox 360 laptop
At last we have the answer to many an Xbox player's prayer. From the perspective of design, the contraption bears more semblances to the first generation Xbox. But makes no mistake; we are enthralled by it. Moreover, according to the creator, this machine can be upgraded quite easily, unlike conventional laptops.
