How to enable wake on lan vista?

There is a new sleep function in Windows Vista which is running on my desktop. As we know that it is a combination between the standby mode and hibernation. I want to know that how I can turn on my sleeping PC in super fast way. Do I need to enable wake on LAN? Also tell me the process of turning it on?

Let me first tell you what sleep mode in vista means? In vista OS the sleep mode works in the same way as standby does in older systems.Standby or sleep mode are energy saving mode in any computer be it Laptop or Desktop.Sleep mode in Vista differ from Standby as the former hibernate after a fixed time interval say 3 hours which is fixed by the user himself, whereas in latter there is no such option. Both are very different from hibernation as hibernation is state of complete off whereas these two just switch to low energy state thats it.Wake on Lan has nothing to do with speed of recovery from sleep or standby mode.Wake on lan just make you free to switch on your computer even if you are at remote site but connected to the computer you want to wake up by some network as Wake On Lan works on network. If you want to activate Wake on Lan, there are two parts in it.First go to control panel >network and sharing>network connection find your network device there and on properties tab and turn on Wake on Lan.After you done with this go to power settings and activate "Allow this computer to wake-up on lan.
