Do you throw your old gadgets in the recycle bin? Well, there is a far better way of getting some money out of them. An EcoATM machine can determine the value of your gadget and pay instantly if you wish. It was put on display during the Consumer Electronic Show (CES) held recently in Las Vegas. The cupboard sized machine takes the picture of old device to determine its condition. Then it checks the internals parts by asking you to connect the device with a cable and provides a quote after comparing the prices offered by other electronics-recycling companies.

Sometimes, older phones are not worth reselling. However, this machine offers at least a dollar for any device. It is then recycled by the company to extract precious metals from the device. At present about 50 EcoATMs have been deployed at many places, mostly in grocery stores and shopping malls in California. The company is now planning to take the numbers to 500 across the United States by the end of this year.
The new machine provides multiple benefits. It not only provides the fastest way to deal with old gadgets but also helps the cause of environment by collecting old devices for proper recycling. However, there are a few downsides noted by those who witnessed the machine at CES. Firstly, it may or may not offer the price matching your expectations or what you may get from sites like e-Bay. Secondly, the complicated moving parts of the machine may be prone to breakage in the long run. Thirdly, it only accepts the old phones and mp3 players at present. However, on the positive side, there is no better way than the EcoATM which provides some instant cash for your old device.
