What to do if the DVD drive for Mac does not read discs?

Hi all, I have a Macbook which I purchased 8 months ago and know I am facing a problem with it as my DVD drive for Mac does not read discs. Whenever I put dvd/cd into it for a while it spins for some time and stops without any action and without reading it. I tried trouble shooting but it is not even showing in my desktop or computer. This problem has recently started and I am fed up of it, I hope someone out here must have a solution for this problem.

It is really sad to know that the dvd drive foryour mac doesn’t read disc, when it is merely 8 months old. However, I would recommend you to try a lens-cleaning disk. If lens cleaning fails to fix the problem, you can replace the drive yourself. Nonetheless, if you aren’t sure about doing it yourself, an external optical drive would be the cheapest way to go, but it won’t be a very convenient option, carrying a laptop and a drive around! Moreover, there is also a small trick, wherein you can remove the airport card mounted without breaking the little grounding tab thatconnects to the optical drive. Nonetheless, there is another trick for theolder non-unibody Mac books, though replacing those drives is comparably morework. In this manner, you can actually source a replacement mac optical drive,by simply taking out the old one out, and fixing the new one in. I hope thesolutions thus provided might prove to be of some help to you! Have a blessed day!!
