Is this due to the USB ports or data transfer cables that my computer is not recognizing the GPS?

My computer won't recognize my Garmin Nuvi 765t, even though I installed Garmin Communicator and USB drivers. The original Nuvi cable creates the message ‘USB device not recognized.’ A couple of other cables don't work either. They reboot the Nuvi but don't charge or sync it. Is the problem more likely due to the data-transfer cable or to my USB ports (which have had trouble syncing other devices) that my computer is not recognizing the GPS? Please advise. Thanks.

Garmin Nuvi 765t is a very successful product in the market. It is among the best in class GPS gadgets available now-a-days. It helps drivers to plan their drives with the required fuel by tracking the fuel efficient routes. It provides you real time traffic updates for a smoother drive. The computers have been quite compatible with this device lately and not many users have faced troubles while synchronizing it. But, a few people have witnessed such issues. Although, there may be a fault with the data-transfer cable and the USB ports of your computer but I feel you should take certain measures before arriving at a consensus. At first, you may try to connect the device through Bluetooth. Next, you can verify if your operating system is working perfectly and whether your computer hardware meets the device's system requirements. If you have checked with these then I believe you should consult Garmin's customer support to necessitate inspection of your device with regard to both hardware and software compatibility. I think it would be wise to consult their support staff before planning to replace your computer's USB ports or the data-transfer cable. Hope your concerns get addressed at the earliest!
