How do I delete files with a long destination address?

I have the windows xp. When I tried to delete files through the Graphical User Interface, a message showed that the full control file permissions are not configured. Its not as easy as the abc letters to trace. I tried typing cmd in the search box and tapped the enter. I further typed cacls as the C:path-to-directorydirectory-name/T/G Everyone:F” and in the next line typed del /F /S /Q /A C in the command prompt. from here the error msgs started. How do I go ahead from here? How do I delete my files with a long destination address?

Deleting files with a long destination address is no more a hassle since you can now make use of the command-line terminal section in the Windows for applying the file along with the directory for the full-control permissions before you start with deleting the files. Definitely, deleting the files with a long destination address will not be possible through the graphical user interface since generally the necessary full-control permissions are not configured completely. Therefore, a file would not permit to delete the necessary permissions in case the directory where the file has been stored needs the necessary permissions that stop the files from deletion. In this case, you will need to give full control for the file permissions with the help of the Cacls command and thereafter with the help of delete command delete the required file.

To start the process click on the start button and thereafter click on the “Search” box. Write the letters “cmd” without any space amongst them and hit “Enter”. Thereafter enter “cacls C:path-to-directorydirectory-name /T /G Everyone:F” when you get the prompt for the command. Change the “cacls C:path-to-directorydirectory-name /T /G Everyone:F” precisely with the directory path to the file that you desire to delete. Then hit “Enter”.

After this hit “del /F /S /Q /A C:path-to-directorydirectory-namefile-name at prompt of the command. Change the “path-to-directorydirectory-name” with precisely the same directory path to the file that you wish to delete. Change the name of the file to the file that requires deletion. And then hit “Enter”.
