Platform of Japan showcased an interesting device at the Information Security Expo 2012, Data Killer, capable of erasing all information on a hard disk easily .
The machine releases a strong magnetic field that alters the magnetic alignments containing the data recordings. It changes all the magnetic alignments to face in one direction leading to the data’s demise. Data Killer is very efficient and swift in executing the desired results; it does the deed very quickly.
Data can be erased from any magnetic tapes, basically any Commercial Video Media such as miniDV, Desktop PCs, Servers, Notebook PCs, HDD, Floppy Discs, DAT, DLT, LTO, CMT etc.The said tapes can then be reused.
Platform of Japan has been working on data deletion through the use of magnetic fields for the last ten years. Their current product line has slots for the user to insert 3.5-inch hard disk or up to14 data hard discs for erasure. Larger models come with a bigger slot space for expunging all the data from larger devices like a notebook PC.
Platform of Japan is seeking to expand its Data Killer business in other countries.
The Data Killer resembles those box shaped computer machines you see in old movies. There is nothing sleek or fashionable in its design, it has a very simple blue and silver combination. It may not look very high-tech, yet its function matters a great deal. The company plans to invest in more advancements in the field and is very focused on developing its business in this area.
