What is a computer guitar amplifier?

Hi all. I just read an article about the computer guitar amplifier in a computer magazine that my younger brother has subscribed to. I was so excited that I couldn't wait posting my question here and getting a good answer to it. What is a computer guitar amplifier? Does it functions just like a real guitar amplifier? How and where can I get one downloaded if its available as a freeware? I want to know the diversity of amplifying that it can provide to the user. Please tell me all you know about this kind of programs.

Here is some information that you will be pleased to know that you can now turn your computer into the guitar amplifier. All you need to do is just get an 1/4th inch to 1/8th inch audio plug from the radio shack. One end goes in the slot provided in the guitar where as the other end goes in the line in of your PC. Then you can double click the volume icon in to your system tray, go to the file menu, advanced, and then check the option known as ‘line in’. Hit okay opyion now, and then unmute line in. Turn it up as it is needed. however No idea about pedals though. The recording may be crummy. You have to hook an amplifier up to the computer, and run the guitar through the amp. Your computer does not have enough power to make the electric guitar sound good. You would still need an external amplifier to get lots of power into the speakers. Might just be OK for the headphones. This is how you might just turn your computer into a guitar amplifier. This is based on the technicality of the system and its stature that allows the hi-tech softwares to run and the system is able to support those softwares. Thank you.
