How to check CPU temperature?

Is there any way that I can check the CPU temperature in Vista? I am using a Vista Home Basic on my laptop and it was not too late until I found out that it was getting too hot at a much faster rate than it usually does. This made me to keep an eye on the temperature of my machine so that it doesn’t get overheated of something. Has anyone of you done this before? I was facing some real time difficulties with the whole process when my friend advised me about software that I need to install in my PC to be able to the temperature. Is it true? Can anyone of you suggest me such software?

The CPU being an electronic device, is bound to generate heat which may damage the internal system or circuits. So, we always need to pay attention. You can monitor the CPU temperature problem by yourself. These are some of the symptoms regarding this problem:

  • PC's may give blank blue screen during installation of operating system.
  • your system may start malfunctioning and also restart by itself.

There are some basic steps and software's to keep an eye on the temperature of your machine.

  • Through BIOS : This step is independent of your operating system i.e whether you are using Vista or Window xp or Linux. BIOS referred to system or setup and you just need to enter by pressing DEL or F2 key instantly when you restart your system. You got some message in a table form, now you need to select PC health status or anything similar and your PC is ready to observe the CPU temperature. You don't need to worry about, this is a simple process.
  • Measuring CPU temperature through Motherboard's software: This step is based on the type of operating system.
  • Using Third party software : It is true that you can use many other software available in market for monitoring CPU temperature. Like Everest, Speedfan etc. Even you can download its trial version online.
Therefore, you can go for following ways to protect your CPU from damaging or in other ways you can also use some external precautions like using fan or coolers, best thermal casing, minimize the room temperature and so on.
