At CES 2012, the Chaotic Moon Labs, a division of Chaotic Moon, has astonished the spectators with an electric skateboard powered by Microsoft Kinect 360 console and a Samsung Windows 8 tablet. The skateboard, named The Board of Awesomeness (BoA) is being controlled by the Kinect 360 gaming console and the Windows 8 tablet. Well, the skateboard is equipped with many new capabilities like video and speech recognition location and accelerometer data thanks to the functioning of the gaming console and tablet.

Engineers at the Chaotic Moon Labs have decided to take the Microsoft Kinect 360 revolution to the streets. The Kinect console along with the tablet helps users control the entire movements of the board. With the help of advanced technologies, the BoA, which can move up to 32mph, provides a novel experience for riders. The skateboard can recognize the gestures of its users and it moves accordingly.
Rider just needs to raise hands to tell the skateboard to start on. To go faster, you have to push your hands forward; you can slow down the board by pulling your hands backwards. The Kinect console transmits the gestures from the passenger to the Windows 8 tablet, which is known as the brain of the entire set up. The tablet sits at the top of the skateboard.
The BoA creator, Chaotic Moon Labs, has designed the machine to demonstrate how perceptive computing can change the way we feel user experiences. The team of ecstatic engineers has been excited to develop a novel way to make use of the Kinect interface we have been using for indoor gaming. Indeed, the new skateboard brings success for their efforts to re-engineer Kinect to operate something beyond gaming avatar.
Of course, it will be an elevated experience to move on the skateboard that can be controlled by just hand gestures. The Chaotic Moon Labs team has mounted the Xbox 360 Kinect console, Samsung Windows 8 tablet, a phidget interface module and all terrain wheels on a motorized longboard to design the BoA skateboard for an easy skating experience on streets. Let us see what the team behind the board says of this exciting product,
Using a motorized longboard custom rigged with a Microsoft Xbox 360 Kinect device, Samsung Windows 8 enabled tablet with full voice control, a phidget interface module, and all terrain tires, we took Project Sk8 to the streets.Chaotic Moon is a firm with a team of creative engineers and designers. On the company’s official web site, they address themselves as rocket scientists who concentrate on mobile media rather than dangerous rockets. The company will invest an extra of six million dollars into the Chaotic Moon Labs, which researches on to produce matchless technologies and products.
